One Room at a Time – Week One – Room Before & Plans

Hey there, we are starting another round of One Room at a Time!!  Tammy, Patina and Paint and I are taking one of our guest bedrooms and sharing how we give it a refresh on a budget.  Join us as we share both of our rooms the rest of June with the reveal on June 30th.  Today, we are sharing what the room looks like now and our plans on what we want to do to change it.  So, let’s get started with mine.

The Room as it stands today.

The Plan

• Brighten the room

The lighting is terrible, I want to change the light bulbs out with cool LED bulbs.  The overhead lighting has warm regular light bulbs in which tends to turn things yellow.

Another way to brighten the room will be changing the wall color.  I will paint three of the walls with Ever Better Beige by Behr and to the wall behind the bed, a light blue with a trellis design.

• Cozy Up the Room

Although the bedding is in great condition, I want to change it to a neutral color.  A white bedding with blue accents.

Changing the matching drapes to a neutral linen fabric as well.

• Organization

Taking a look from the doorway, all you see is wall to wall “stuff”.  First, I will go through the toys, placing them in categories to make little stations for her to play with them better.

To the other side of the room is the furniture, there are too many pieces to the one wall.  I will purge and move a few pieces.  My plans will be giving the pieces I keep in the room a new color.

I feel with all the plans I have for the room, it will make this room more comfortable and inviting for our guest plus give Kehlani the perfect playroom while she is here visiting.
