It’s time to decorate the furniture I have in the guest bedroom.

Welcome back to One Room at a Time – Guest Bedroom | Toy Room!

Today, Tammy Patina and Paint and I will be styling furniture in our guest bedroom, I will have her blog linked at the bottom of my page.

Our guest room has two nightstands, I will show you how to decorate the nightstands to be functional for your guest.

How to Decorate Nightstands

You need to decorate your nightstands with your guest in mind.  As much as you want them to look pretty, they need to be functional as well.

To make the room feel larger I place my makeover Hobby Lobby mirrors up on the wall over the nightstands.

To watch me give the mirror a makeover you can watch my video – HOME DECOR MAKEOVERS.

Since our guest will be in an unfamiliar place, they will need a close source of light.

The lamps I have are in great shape, but the color is too dark, to brighten them I painted two coats of Ever Better Beige by Behr to the bases.

I added the lamp shades back on and placed them to the nightstands.

Another functional item is a small bowl or basket for guest to tuck away rings or other small objects in.  Larger items can be placed in the nightstand drawer.

I placed my small bowl revamp on the nightstand.

Helping your guest sleep better from distracting noises, add a white noise machine to the nightstand.

Even though a plant or flower, faux or real are not functional, they can bring a sense of life to a bedroom.

Moving to the other side of the bed.

To assure your guest a good night’s sleep, place a diffuser to fill the bedroom with a favorite relaxing aroma.

Another thing to accommodate your guest would be making sure they have a plug-in for all their electronics.

I attached a small power strip to the wall next to the nightstand.

Simple Way to Decorate a Chest of Drawers

The chest of drawer is mostly used for Kehlani’s items.  One drawer is used to store coloring books, puzzles and books and a couple drawers have her clothing inside.  There is an empty drawer in case our guest wants to tuck items away.

To the top of the chest, I have a few items I store her items in as well, the wicker container and the wooden box.

I shared the vase and how I place the flower bundles inside.

I feel our guest bedroom would be comfortable for our next house guest.

  1. First of all, I love the blue furniture. It ties in beautifully with your stenciled wall! And second, you styled your furniture to perfection. Thank you so much for sharing.

    1. Well, thank you so much Tammy. I am very happy with the blue and want to paint another piece somewhere in our home the same. It’s like a domino effect, once you like something you want to continue painting the rest of your home. At least for me, but I won’t….yet.
