It’s time for my favorite part of bedroom styling…. the BEDDING!

Welcome back to One Room at a Time – Guest Bedroom | Toy Room!

Today, Tammy Patina and Paint and I will be sharing the last part of our guest bedrooms refresh before the reveal, I will have her blog linked at the bottom of my page.

We are going to focus on the largest piece in the room, the bed or in Tammy’s case beds!  I don’t know about you, but not only is it important for the bed to feel warm and cozy, but it also should look pretty and inviting.

When building the bed, start with the sheets.

When purchasing sheets, I look for sheet sets with a high thread count; this means how many horizontal and vertical threads per square inch.  The larger the number the softer the sheets will feel.  I find budget friendly sheet sets, in discount stores, such as Tj Maxx, Ross, Marshall’s or Beall’s Outlet.

When placing your flat sheet to the bed, make sure you left enough sheet at the top to fold the sheet over a thin blanket or a thin quilt this will serve as a hygienic buffer for your guests.

Some guest sleep cold which will need several blankets, while others run hot and want just a sheet with a light quilt or blanket, so dressing the bed in layers will give your guest the options.

Basic bedding.

Tip on buying bed in a bag:  I have found when buying bed in a bag, the comforter tends to run small, buy one size larger than the bed size, the comforter will fit properly over the sides of the mattress.

In order to hide the bed pillows, place the matching shams to the top of them.

Finishing touches to the bed.

Pillows, it’s all about colors, patterns and textures now.

I layered the shams that came with both beddings in front of the bed pillows.

I tend to stay with the same color palette, but different texture and pattern will give the bed some interest.

To the foot of the bed, I used another comforter folding it into a trifold and placed it at the foot of the bed, pleating a light quilt on top.

The light quilt is the perfect weight for a spare blanket for our guest.

For those who think this would be a lot of work for our guest to make the bed.  I will undress the bed before they turn in for the night and only the basic bedding will stay on the bed while they stay with us.

I hope my post shows how you can take bedding from discount stores to make a bed look expensive.
