Hey there! On today’s blog I’m working in the kitchen this morning. I decided to give my hutch a mini makeover. I will be using sand paper and 1 roll of Peel and Stick wallpaper to change the look of my hutch.
I gave our hutch a totally new look a couple of years ago. To check that transformation out you can click here → HUTCH MAK EOVER – BEFORE AND AFTER.

Here is the hutch before I started working on it this morning.
I like my hutch as it is now, but I think with this idea I have in my head I am going to love it!! I can’t wait to share this with you.
I found a shiplap peel and stick wallpaper on Amazon. I only need one roll for the back of my hutch. This will be a very inexpensive makeover.
I will list the link to the peel and stick wallpaper at the bottom of this page.
My thoughts were to remove the shelving to apply easily with three pieces, but….when doing the last makeover I caulked the shelves. So to remove the shelves I was afraid I would damage the sides and back of the cabinet. I wallpapered the back with the shelves in.
The next two sections wasn’t hard I had to make sure the lines all lined up.
On the last makeover I painted a faux shiplap, this peel and stick wallpaper brought it to a whole different level.
Next, taking my sanding block to all the edges and details.
The cabinet blends better distressed with the wallpaper.
Added my decorations back to the hutch same as before.
I had a lot of fun doing this project. It didn’t take very long. I will be picking up more sand paper to distress my table and chairs. 🙂
To remind you what the hutch looked like before.

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
Really love the new look. That wallpaper just added so much to the look of the cabinet and the accessories as well. Good job.
Thanks Darlene. I think the wallpaper gave it the finish look it needed.
You have the best ideas! She looks really cute with the wallpaper and distressing. You do such a great job! I’m with you regarding some woods. The dining room set we have had been the Urban Farmer’s mom’s set and it is maple which has turned into “eighties orange”. She was so proud of that Tell City (Indiana) furniture and would probably spin in her grave if I put a paintbrush near it. Asking a little advice: The Urban Farmer’s stepfather bought his mom a cedar chest as a wedding gift when they married in 1953. The finish on it has “alligatored” and I would love to sand it down and paint it. I did mention that I would like to paint it and I thought she was going to have a heart attack. Have you tackled a piece like this? Enjoy your weekend. Hope the weather is good where you are! xoxo
I have painted my hope chest and love the look. Not sure what the finish you call “alligatored”. Could you test a little patch of it to see? I would love to see your projects.
Hi Terrie,
Great idea and it adds charm. I love it and Pinned.
These little things make a huge impact

It really does Cindy. It finished it off.
That was a neat idea!
