Here’s a fun DIY for you to do for Valentine’s Day on a cold winter day. Follow along as I make a simple decoration for my Valentine’s mantel.
It’s time for another monthly Creative Craft hop, this month we have 9 crafters sharing some fun crafts. A special thanks to Sara, Birdz of a Feather for hosting the craft hop each month. At the bottom of my page, I will share each participant’s link to their craft.
If you are coming over from Ann, The Apple Street Cottage, welcome!

Book Page Cone Heart Tutorial
Supplies needed:
- cardboard shaped into a heart
- book pages
- scotch tape
- scissors
- ruler
- hot glue and glue gun
First step:
Taking the book pages, cut a 2 ½ ” square. I used 110 squares.
Second step:
Form a cone shape with the square, using a piece of tape to keep it together.
Third step:
Hot glue the cones around the edge of the cardboard heart, making sure the tips of the cones are hanging over the edge of the heart.
For the next layer glue each cone between the cones of the first row.
Keep layering and gluing paper cones on your heart shape. When coming to the inner part of the heart, bend the ends of the cones to fit.
Last step:
The very last cone cut the tip of the cone off and glue into the center of the heart.
I made a large book wreath in a previous tutorial; you can click here to see the tutorial –DIY OLD BOOK WREATH.
Look how cute my heart looks styled up on my mantel!

Terrie, what a great idea for a Valentine wreath. Certainly a smart way to use old paperback books. I love how simple the project is, but it looks really intricate. As usual, you come up with unique idea.
