SIMPLE SUMMER ARRANGEMENT

Hey there friends!  If you are coming over from Laura’s Everyday Edits, welcome to Decorate and More with Tip!  Here on my blog I share tips on how you can decorate your home on a budget by creating it from scratch, revamping, re-purposing or giving it a makeover with easy tutorials.  I hope I inspire you to create something beautiful for your home. 🙂

It’s time for the Pinterest Inspiration Challenge hosted by Cindy, County Road 407.   I will list all of the participant’s links at the bottom of my page.  The purpose of the challenge is to take an inspiration photo Cindy finds on Pinterest and create our own version of it.  Our inspiration photo this month is from Mary over at Home is Where the Boat Is.  I love Mary’s blog, all of her post!  Today’s inspiration is from her lemon tablescape, you have to check out the centerpiece she made for her table.  I am sharing a photo of it below, isn’t it beautiful?

Do you like to decorate with lemons?  My kitchen is full of lemons this summer.  So when Cindy gave us the inspirational photo I was excited to get started.  I knew just what I wanted to create for this lemon challenge.  I went out in our yard, cut some of our hydrangeas off the bush and brought them in to create my arrangement.   While I was removing some leaves from the stems a bug crawled off, back outside they went!  I went into my flower stash and pulled out a couple bundles to use instead.

The supplies I used were:

  • glass container
  • small faux lemons or real lemons if you prefer
  • bundle of sunflowers
  • a small fern stem

For my arrangement I am using a glass wire container.

To keep the theme of the inspirational photo I am filling my containers with lemons.  I am using small whole lemons to fill my container.

Filling my container halfway with lemons.

Keeping the sunflowers securely in the container I placed a piece of floral form inside on top of the lemons. I made sure the form fit tightly in the container.

Using my snips I cut the sunflower stems off the bundle.

Once the stems were off the bundle I arranged the flowers in my container.

To give it a little more texture I added fern stems to the arrangement.

To fix the view of the floral form,  I used a piece of ribbon, wrapped it around the container added a dab of hot glue to keep it attached.

That’s it.  I placed it on the table to enjoy for the rest of our summer.

  1. How cute Terrie! I had to laugh because the same thing happened to me with my hydrangeas which is one of the reasons I took photos of my lemons mason jar bouquet outside on our potting bench!

The sunflowers and lemons look so pretty too and I love the wire vase you used. Great idea to use the burlap to cover the floral foam.

So fun hopping with you. Enjoy the rest of summer!

  2. This is just the cutest! I bet you smile every time you see it! I would. I need to get some floral foam. I always see the cutest arrangements by using it. Love that glass jar too.
So glad you were able to join in this month! Pinned 🙂

  3. Lemons, Sunflowers, and Fern fronds make a perfect floral combination for summer. Your centerpiece is so pretty and since its faux, you can enjoy it again next year.

    1. Thank Jenna. I had those sunflowers for awhile, don’t know why I haven’t used them before. They are really pretty for summer into early fall. Thanks for coming over my friend.

  4. Cute, Terrie! I had to laugh at the bug you brought in. I’ve brought in tree frogs without knowing it;) Just found one on the floor the other day while the dog stared at it; luckily “nature” doesn’t scare me too often!

  5. I really like the container you used. As I was looking at your steps I was wondering how you would cover up the floral form. Your ribbon was a pretty way to cover it up.

    B E A U T I F U L !!!

    1. Thank you so much Carol. I wasn’t going to use the floral foam but sticking the stems inside with the lemons looked sloppy. I do like the look of using the foam and cutting the stems shorter. The ribbon was a great fix. Thank you again!

  6. Oh my, Terrie!! You had me at lemons!! You know how I love those golden globes of sunshine!! I adore your arrangement and those sunflowers look so realistic!!

    1. You had me laughing when I read the part about making an arrangement for my son. I do like how the arrangement came out with my container. Daisies and lemons can’t go wrong!

    1. Thanks Laura. I do love how this can be transform until late summer early fall. Doesn’t the yellow bring you joy? Thanks again Laura.
