TOUR OF MY STORAGE AREAS

Hello there!

It is so nice to be back here with you.  Putting social media away to spend the last few days with my father was what I needed to do.  He is at peace now, the hardest part is getting over the loss of a love one.  I want to thank each and everyone of you that reached out to me regarding the death of my father.  I felt so blessed to have such a sweet community of friends sending me comforting words and prayers.  Thank you!

A question I get asked a lot is, where do I store all of my home decor and my craft supplies for my blog projects? So…Today I am going to share with you my storage areas. 🙂

I finally have shelving in the attic to store all my home decor.  All my crafting supplies are down in one of our guest bedroom’s closets.  I added shelving to that area as well.

Let me share my craft closet with you first.  Here are a few pictures of the closet before I decided to make it into my craft closet.

Two years ago I was in the Habitat For Humanity (my favorite place) and I found a shelving unit.  That gave me the idea to turn the closet into my craft supply closet.

It isn’t a glamours craft closet, but it has all my needs in one place which is helpful when I am ready for a project.  It’s so nice opening the door and know exactly where everything is.

On one side of the closet I placed my scrap paper tower.  I keep it opened and try to keep it organized by color.  I also have binders holding different sizes and patterns of scrap paper.  I place all my twine and string in a Dollar Tree basket to keep that all together.

For my paints, you remember my Re-purposed attic ladder?   The ladder worked out perfect for my paints and other supplies.

On the other side I added some long nails to hold my wreath forms, hoops and stapler.

The bottom drawer container has some smaller seasonal items I store in the drawers.  I have our printer and shredder sitting on top of the container so it is ready to use when needed.  Oh and my camera ready for my next project. 🙂

I used a hook to hold my DIY Hot Glue Gun Holder.  It is one of my DIYs that I use a lot! 🙂

I purchased some plastic storage bins at Dollar Tree to store items in.

On the top shelves I store my glass and other containers and all of candles.

When I want to change the closet back to a regular closet it will be easy, I just have to remove the shelving unit.

Now to my latest project.  Adding peg board and shelving to the attic.  I had Jim’s help on this project.

I added a 2′ x 4′ peg board on the two studs.

We purchased L brackets and one piece of sub-flooring.  We cut the sub-floor panel into 13 inch strips for the shelves.

I purchased some white plastic cups and bins to add all my floral stems and greenery in.

With the cups I cut the bottoms out of them and taped the edges with white duct tape.  Works pretty good.  I punched a hole in the cup and attached the cup with a screw and bolt to the board.  I thought that would be better than using a hook.  Using a hook would keep pulling off when taking out the stems.

I attached the bins to the peg board the same way as the cups;  Punching holes in the back of the bin and attaching it to the board with a bolt and screw.

It seems that I could probably use a couple more shelves, don’t you think? 🙂

My craft closet and attic storage area are functional and both work great for all of my needs.   Now that I am all organized I plan to do some projects and decorating tips for you.  Stay tuned! 🙂
