DIY STAR CHARGER PLATES

Hey there y’all!

Tomorrow I will be sharing with you my kitchen area all dressed up for Independence Day.  Can you believe we are in the month of July already?  WOW!

Dressing my table up for July 4th means this girl needs to find some Spirit of America decor pieces fast!  I found some cute inspiration and am ready to go.  You know me and love to layer my table.  That being said I needed some chargers to go with the theme.  I went to the Dollar Tree and grabbed 4 of the chargers.  You just can’t beat those silver or gold chargers there!

Let’s get started!

I want my chargers navy with white stars.  I started by spray painting the chargers navy.  I did two coats.

Now that I have my chargers painted navy, I am going to add stars all the way around the edges.  I purchased star stickers at the Dollar Tree and cut one star to make a stencil.

I cut the template in a little curve at the top to give me a guide to place near the edge.

Adding a little paint on the brush and gently tapping the star area until it is completely covered.  You want to tap to keep the paint from going under the stencil. * DO NOT make brushing strokes*

Fill in the star completely.

Carefully lift up the stencil.

I cleaned my stencil off each time.  I kept making stars until I had them all around the charger’s edge.

After you stencil all the way around, it should look like this.

The last star I had to squeeze in.  It isn’t that noticeable.  Can you tell where it is?  I am not going to point it out! 🙂

I am sealing the charger so I can wash the plates when needed.  I am using the Minwax paste finishing wax apply it on the whole front part of the plate.

I really like how they turned out.  What do you think?  With just a little time and some paint you have some really cute star chargers for $1.00 each.

Look at them all dressed up!

Come back tomorrow when I share with you my kitchen table area all dressed up for Independence Day!

  1. I love how that turned out. I never thought of spray painting and decorating the dollar tree chargers. That’s a total game changer to my party plans. Thanks for sharing the idea.
