Hey there! Welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! Here on my blog I share tips on how you can decorate your home on a budget by creating it from scratch, revamping, re-purposing or giving it a makeover with easy tutorials. I hope I inspire you to create something beautiful for your home. 🙂
It’s time for another Pin Challenge! This challenge is a lot of fun and gives us a chance to make something we see in our Pinterest feed. The purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! The pin I am sharing this month looked like a lot of fun to make, plus I had all the supplies on hand so why not? Justin Wray made a vase out of Mardi Gras beads and a glass vase. DOLLAR TREE BEADED VASE TUTORIAL
Items I used were:
- small glass vase
- 9 beaded necklaces
- hot glue and glue sticks
- blue, white and gold paint

Before I started I cleaned my vase and plugged in my glue gun. I cut each necklace to make a long strand, starting at the top of my vase I glued the strand around the vase. Once I got to the beginning I cut my beads and started a new row. I kept doing the same step until I got to the bottom of my vase.
When finished, I took the leftover beads and filled in the gaps.
To remove all the glue webs I found using a lighter will melt away the webs. Making sure not to hold it on one area too long.
I painted my vase in three colors. Blue, white and gold. First I spray painted the entire vase with Rust-Oleum Brilliant Blue.
Once the paint dried I taped off a section to paint white.
After the white paint dried I painted the bottom of the vase metallic gold.
I tucked some greenery in my vase. It looks so cute!

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
Your vase is beautiful! I just love the things you can do with Dollar Tree vases!
I have done many things over the years with Dollar Tree vases. Thank you Cherryl!
Very cute Terrie! I’ll have to remember the lighter tip for the glue strings, thank you… I’m sure you made that stand for your glue gun, brilliant! I saw on Instagram you mentioned you live in Alabama, me too! I am back and forth between a house in Birmingham and one in Orange Beach…yes quite hot right now! Happy creating~
Thank you Jenna. Yes the lighter works on the glue webs and the strings on jute rope. I did make the stand for my glue gun out of scrap wood I had. I LOVE it and use it all the time. Probably one of the most used DIY I have made.
We live only 2 hours away from Birmingham. Orange beach is where we like to vacation at.
Hi Terrie,
Boy this my kind of challenge, seeing something on Pinterest that I would enjoy for my own home, love it!
Great idea for the vase. I’ve been Pinning ideas like crazy for fall and holiday projects.
Cindy
Cindy, I have been gathering a lot of inspiration for Fall and winter myself. Always fun searching for new inspiration isn’t it. Take care and thanks for stopping by!

I would never have thought to paint the beads!! Such an awesome transformation and it turned out so elegant!!
Christine you know me paint it! Thank you so much sweet friend.
Beautiful! I love the colors you chose for your beaded vase.
Thanks Lauren. I love the three colors together too. As always, love hopping with you!
Nice inexpensive way to update a plain vase. I love the texture that the beads give it.
I do too Erlene, it can give several different styles by how you paint it. Boho, elegant or farmhouse. Great craft to try.
That is so cute! What a fun project. Pinned.
Thanks for pinning Joanne. It was a cute little craft to try at least once.
This is so cute! I love the way it came out.
Thanks Jodi! I had so many beads I needed to use. When I saw Justin’s craft I thought how neat his turned out. Very easy.
Hope you have a great week my friend!
What a fun upcycle/recycle craft using beads! Your vase is so cute and adorable! And the possibilities are unlimited for creating paint designs!
I know Gail the things we could design without painting them. For some reason I have collected the necklaces over the year. I still have several to use for something else. ha!
When my daughter was a teen she had those beads all over her room. I never thought to paint them. What a clever idea! The vase looks great!
oh Lydia I paint everything. ha! If it isn’t the color I want I paint it, simple as that. Thank you so much for your sweet comment.
Very pretty and elegant! What a great way to make a dollar tree vase look expensive and one of a kind. I have to remember to use a plastic cup for when I spray paint- very smart!
I always like to raise my item off the ground to help paint all the surface and for dripping purposes. Thank you so much Jenny for stopping by. Love working with you.
Your vase turned out brilliantly! I love your colourful stripes, very classy and such a fun way to upgrade a plain old vase.
